Top 10 Most Expensive Iron Man Hot Toys

There’s no question that popular one sixth scale manufacturer Hot Toys has released a whack ton of different versions of Iron Man Hot Toys armor variants over what is now almost; or more than, a decade of steady Marvel releases. In addition to the regular line of Iron Man suits (Mark I, Mark II, and so on..) the House Party Protocol line of armor that we saw featured in the Iron Man 3 film brings the total number of Iron Man Hot Toys into triple digit territory. Some might even venture to say that much of the success that Hot Toys enjoys today can be in part attributed to how many collectors have embraced the Iron Man line of figures. It’s not uncommon for most Iron Man Hot Toys figures to sell out during the pre-order phase forcing some collectors to purchase their figure on the secondary market.

Sadly, when it comes to the secondary market, prices on Hot Toys figures can often times be quite a bit higher than the original MSRP. This particularly rings true with most Iron Man Hot Toys figures since the number of collectors that pursue a complete collection seems to be quite high relative to the number of total collectors. As much as there may be mutterings of what this collector is calling “Iron Man fatigue” when Hot Toys announces a new Iron Man figure, the figures continue to sell out time and time again. So clearly despite the complaints among Hot Toys collectors.. they are not willing to quit on Tony Stark just yet apparently.

To avoid having to pay extra for the latest Hot Toys Iron Man figure it’s probably best to get a Pre-Order in early or you might be stuck shelling out a whole lot more in the long run.  Got your doubts and think you should wait, huh? We have put together a list of the Top 10 Most Expensive Iron Man Hot Toys to give you a better idea of just how exorbitant the prices can get on the secondary market if you miss out. These average market prices were compiled using eBay and the Sold Listings feature only to only include figures that actually successfully sold.

As you can see looking over this list of previously released Top 10 Most Expensive Hot Toys Iron Man figures there is most certainly a trend of the price increasing by well over 100-150%+ in most cases. Prices on the secondary market typically double compared to the original MSRP and on top of that collectors are stuck with the nuisance of not being able to exchange what could potentially be a flawed or defective figure. When a figure is newly released if you have quality control issues, most major retailers can offer replacement parts and/or an exchange but those benefits are rarely available with an eBay transaction for example. Now this is not to say that all Iron Man Hot Toys figures will increase so sharply in price. Some may even decline after their initial release but this is very rare with such a large fanbase so heavily invested in the Iron Man line-up of sixth scale figures.

It’s safe to say that if you are a fan of the Marvel Hot Toys and any of the Iron Man releases in particular that the moment you catch wind of a new product announcement you lock in your Pre-Order as soon as possible. Production quantities for some figures can be very unpredictable and while the available pre-order window for a previous Hot Toys figure may have been longer it may not necessarily be the same length of time with every release. So the next time there’s an Iron Man Hot Toys figure up for order that you have your eye on, do yourself a favor and snag it before it’s too late and you are stuck shelling out a small fortune!

I agree with your point – the inflated secondary market will push the price of these Hot Toys sky high. Any serious collector needs to buy fast.
