Mezco Toyz Wants You To Chill Out With One:12 Collective Mr. Freeze Figure

Things are about to get pretty cold for the Caped Crusader with pre-orders now live for the new Mezco Toyz One: 12 Collective Mr. Freeze action figure. Glimpsed at the Mezco display at both New York Comic-Con and the New York Toy Fair recently, the villain looks mighty imposing.

Victor Fries has been a member of Batman’s rogues’ gallery for decades, since first appearing in Batman #121 all the way back in 1959. First introduced as Mr. Zero, the character really gained popularity after his origin was revamped in the Batman: The Animated Series television show that aired during the 1990s. Given a more tragic backstory, Mr. Freeze was now a cryogenics scientist who only wants to cure his terminally ill wife, but ends up being forced to wear a special suit that maintains his body at low temperatures.

Mezco Toyz has gone above and beyond with their rendition of the arctic villain. Not only is his suit a mix of insulated-looking fabric and armor, but also much of that armor actually lights up via LEDs. Also given the light-up feature is the beautifully sculpted freeze cannon the figure comes with. I would not want to be on the wrong side of that thing!

Rounding out the extras is the removable helmet and the two interchangeable head sculpts. While I’m not sure how I feel about these portraits (They look like a cross between Bernie Sanders and Vin Diesel), I appreciate that we get two options.

While the price increase to $120 might be a little steep for some, the figure does look to come packaged in a unique “cryo-chamber tin”. That plus the light-up feature may end up making this release feel like a steal.

TheMezco Toyz One: 12 Collective Mr. Freeze Figureis available for pre-order now and is slated to drop September – November 2020.
