Iron Man Goes Back To The Beginning With Hot Toys Tony Stark Mech Test Figure

Hot Toys has been on the remake and re-release train recently, dividing fans and collectors the world over. Some are upset at not getting something new or their original figures losing their value, while others are ecstatic that they get to pick up figures that they missed and have since grown to astronomical cost in the aftermarket.

Whatever side of the debate you fall on, it’s difficult to ignore the excitement there’s to be had at getting a new and improved take on certain characters, like this Mech Test Tony Stark from Iron Man.

A modern remake of the MMS 116 release that Hot Toys produced back in 2008, this new version looks to be a worthy upgrade for the true Marvel fan.

The likeness of Robert Downey Jr. is just as strong as the original, but the features are a bit softer and more natural-looking. The tailoring and colors of his clothing look more accurate to the film, as well.

The paintwork has definitely improved with this release, giving everything a new sheen, so to speak. The prototype boots and gauntlets are sculpted to a tee, and while they didn’t look bad back ion 2008, this is just as good if not better.

Just like the original, the Deluxe Version Tony Stark comes packaged with his mechanical helper, Dum-E. I love when Hot Toys adds extras like this, which always helps to give the display a little something extra. Giving new collectors a choice of whether they want the add-in is always welcome, as well.

Hot Toys Tony Stark (Mech Test Version) Sixth Scale Figure MMS 582 in both Standard and Deluxe Versions, is available to pre-order now and is slated to drop Q1-Q2, 2022.
