There has been a lot of buzz around a new Lord of the Rings streaming series on Amazon’s Prime Video service lately, which has me often thinking back to just how good Peter Jackson’s trilogy was. I’ll always be partial to the first installment in the series, The Fellowship of the Ring, but I’d be hard-pressed to argue anyone voting for The Two Towers.

The most iconic moment in that sequel was the fabled Battle of Helm’s Deep, the first true battle in the War of the Ring. Asmus Toys has announced their newest figure and a major player in that battle: Aragon.

Played by Viggo Mortensen, Aragorn is one of the best and most popular characters from J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic heroic tale. Of all the many actors in those films, I always favored Mortensen for his subdued yet passionate take on what could have easily been played as Standard Gruff Action Hero #1. Having the opportunity to not only have this iteration of Aragorn on the shelf but from one of the most epic scenes in the trilogy is great news.

While Asmus isn’t stuffing this release with tons of accessories, it does look like we’re getting all off the essentials. I’m not sure what else they could have added here, so I’ve got no complaints.

The likeness of Mortensen, at least in these promotional shots, is pretty good. I’m eager to get one of the factory releases in hand so I can hopefully be wowed then, possibly even more so.
