Following hot on the heels of Iron Studios first foray into the world of Mortal Kombat with the four-armed monster, Goro, comes the badass of badasses: Shao Khan!

Not content to work their way up to the big bad slowly, Iron Studios has placed up for pre-order the fighting game franchise’s premiere villain in all of his horrible glory. Set in 1/10 scale, Shao Khan is seated upon his throne, holding his staff and, presumably, staring down upon the challengers in his tournament with amusement.

The sculpt of both the figure and his throne are immaculate in these promotional photos. It’s no easy feat to make everything look of a different texture and material, from the armor to the muscled skin to the stone throne. Yet, Iron Studios has displayed their adeptness at not only accomplishing this task but excelling at it.

While I do prefer my Shao Khan up and ready to perform a fatality of his own on some foolish fighter silly enough to think they can defeat the ruler of Outworld, I do understand the decision to have him seated on his throne.

In what I’m sure will be massive display of various characters from the game fighting it out, it’s a great shorthand to convey just who this guy is by having obviously in a position of power.

This statue looks excellently crafted and if this is what we have to look forward to with the rest of the MK line, then color me excited.
